TheValencia Tourist Card (VTC) is an all-inclusive tourist card. It comes in three duration options, either 24, 48, or 72 hours. The cards guarantee free public transport across EMT buses, trams, and metro lines in all zones. The card does not cover MetroBus or Renfe (railway) services.
Aside from free transport, the card offers free admission to municipal museums and monuments and discounts up to 50% on selected tourist services. A total of 130 establishments participate, including shops, leisure services, restaurants. In addition to everything, you will also get two free tapas and drinks. To help you out, along with the card you will receive a free map of the city with a discount guide.
The card’s cost per day decreases with the duration of the pass. A 24h pass costs €15.00, a 48h pass €20.00, and a 72h one €25.00. The cards are activated on first use, be it transport or establishments.

Types of Cards
The most used and well-known Valencia Tourist Cards (VTC) are the single-user and big group options. Both types of tickets come in three duration options. You can get a 24, 48, or 72 hours VTC. Single-user cards have a slight discount for children between the ages of 6 and 12. To get a Group VTC you will need to purchase at least 20 cards together.
Additionally, there are also some combination options, where you can get tickets for museums and parks together with your VTC. Some of these combination tickets are:
- 72h VTC + entry ticket to the Oceanogràfic
- 72h VTC + entry to Oceanogràfic, Science Museum, Hemisfèric, and Bioparc
- 72h VTC + entry to the Oceanografic, Science Museum, and Hemisfèric
You can check the end of this section to see the price breakdown table.

These options don’t really save you any money, as the combined price on the website (thus accounting for the online discount), is the same as the price you would get from buying a 72 h Valencia Tourist Card online and then getting your discounted museum/park ticket directly at the venue or Tourist office. The only advantage of getting the combination option is not having to purchase the single park or museum tickets later on. Without the online discount, these combination tickets are even disadvantageous.
Plans are also underway to release a 7-day Valencia Tourist Card for single users. These 7-day passes would effectively be free entry and discount cards, thus not including public transport. You will find more detailed information about each card type, the services and discounts included in the following sections of this article.
Here you can find a breakdown of prices for each card type.

And here is a breakdown of the combination tickets mentioned above. As you can see, only if purchased online they are not disadvantageous. Even then, they would cost you the same as getting a VTC card online and then going to the individual venues to get your tickets.

Is the Valencia Tourist Card Worth It?
If you prefer to be spontaneous and not plan your visits, or simply if you are planning to visit only a few sites per day, maybe this type of discount card is not for you. However, if you want to make the most of what the city has to offer, consider getting the Valencia Tourist Card (VTC).
Maybe you are only staying for a few days and you want to visit all the essential monuments. Maybe you want to hop from one museum to the other. Or maybe, you want to enjoy a mix of everything, museums, restaurants, and leisure services, like cruises and wine tasting tours.

The VTC will allow you to do all that either for free or with a discount. Thanks to this card, you might even find a venue or museum that you didn’t know about before. On top of that, you will also enjoy free public transport without having to worry about tickets.
If this sounds like it could work for you, in this complete guide you will find all the information you need. Keep reading to learn how, where, and when to use and buy the VTC. Whatever your doubt, here you’ll find the answer.
Our recommendations…
We recommend the Valencia tourist card to anyone interested in enjoying the wide array of attractions the city offers. Among the great advantages that this card offers, you will have: free public transport, free entry to museums and monuments, discounts on other tourist services, restaurants, and shops.
Out of the three Valencia Tourist Card options (24h, 48h, 72h), we would most recommend the 72 hours option, as it will give you more time to enjoy the discounts and maximize your savings.
Single User Valencia Tourist Card
The single-user Valencia Tourist Card comes in three duration options. You can choose between 24, 48, or 72 hours.
Regardless of the type of card, once you activate it and for its complete duration, you will enjoy:
- Free public transport across urban EMT buses (Zone A), metro, and trams (zones A-B-C). MetroBus (yellow buses) and Renfe Cercanias are not included.
- Free entry to municipal museums and monuments.
- Special discounts on 130 participating tourist leisure services, restaurants, and shops. These include tourist attractions, like the City of Arts and Sciences, the Cathedral, private museums, tourist bus tours, walking guided tours, cruises, and many more.
- A map of Valencia with a discounts guide. Here, you will be able to check where you can use your free entry or discounts.
- Two tapas and two drinks for free, with each card.
Card prices vary depending on the duration. Getting these cards online from the official VLC website is more convenient, as additional discounts apply. For adult tickets, you get a 10% online purchase discount, while for children (ages 6 to 12), you get a 15% reduction. When buying in person, children pay the same as adults. Following is a price breakdown table.
Card type |
---|
Adult (in-person purchase) |
Adult (online purchase)* |
Children (in-person purchase) |
Children (online purchase)* |
*From the official Visit Valencia website. Discounts on children’s tickets are only applied when buying online from the Visit Valencia website.
The card is activated on first use when you tap it and scan it (this could be at a museum, public transport, etc). The hours of validity will start to count from that moment. This means, if you have a 24-hour card and you activate it on Thursday at 4:00 pm, you will be able to use it until Friday at 4:00 pm.

Keep in mind that urban transport in Valencia is always free from 0 to 5 years of age by bus, and from 0 to 9 years of age by metro. Children also have free or reduced rates in tourist assets. VTC discounts apply on top of these reduced rates.
Also, we would like to remind you that municipal museums and monuments in Valencia are always free on Sundays, even if you do not have a discount card. Therefore, we do not recommend activating or using your VTC on a Sunday.
Group Valencia Tourist Cards
The VTC for groups essentially works the same way as a normal individual tourist card. This means that regardless of the type of card, once you activate it and for its complete duration, you will enjoy:
- Free public transport across urban EMT buses (Zone A), metro, and trams (zones A-B-C). MetroBus (yellow buses) and Renfe Cercanias are not included.
- Free entry to municipal museums and monuments.
- Special discounts on 130 participating tourist leisure services, restaurants, and shops. These include tourist attractions, like the City of Arts and Sciences, the Cathedral, private museums, tourist bus tours, walking guided tours, cruises, and many more.
You will still have the three duration options: 24, 48, 72 hours. After purchase, every group member receives their own Tourist Card. This means that each card is independent of the others in the group, and can be activated at a different time. That is to say, if you get a 24-hour VTC with a group of 20 people, and someone in the group activates their card today at 11:00 am, but you activate it at 4:00 pm, your card will be valid until 4:00 pm tomorrow, while theirs will be valid until 11:00 am tomorrow.

The only difference between single-user and group VTC is that when you buy group cards, you will need to purchase at least 20 of the same card (meaning they all have to be for the same duration). This way you will get a 15% discount on the normal in-person price of a single VTC.
This is true both for online purchases and in-person at a tourist office or digital kiosk. For example, if you were to buy an individual 24 hours VTC at a tourist office (or online), you would pay €15.00. When getting a group VTC for 24 hours, each card would cost you €12.75, for a total of €255.00.

The card is activated on the first use when you tap or scan it (this could be at a museum, public transport, etc). The hours of validity will start to count from that moment. We would like to remind you that municipal museums and monuments in Valencia are always free on Sundays, even if you do not have a discount card. Therefore, we do not recommend activating or using your VTC on a Sunday.
No Transport 7-day Valencia Tourist Card
Soon there will also be a 7-day Valencia Tourist Card (with no transport) available. These 7-day passes for single users will be ideal for those that would rather spread activities out throughout several days, especially if they prefer walking or biking over taking public transport.

Keep in mind that this option is not currently available, and it hasn’t been specified when it will be. When it is released, the 7-day VTC will guarantee the same discounts and free entries included in other Valencia Tourist cards, minus the free public transport. The services will include:
- Free entry to municipal museums and monuments.
- Free entrance to the Cathedral and its museum, including the audio guide. Other VTC cards get you a discount to the Cathedral, but no free entry.
- Special discounts on 130 participating tourist leisure services, restaurants, and shops. These include tourist attractions, like the City of Arts and Sciences, private museums, tourist bus tours, walking guided tours, cruises, and many more.
- A map of Valencia with a discounts guide. Here, you will be able to check where you can use your free entry or discounts.
- Two tapas and two drinks for free, for each card.
The 7-day pass can either be for adults or for children (4 to 12 years of age).

As the name suggests, the card will be valid for 7 days. However, in contrast to the other VTC cards, this one will not be activated upon first use (by tapping it on a reader). Instead, the card will have the date printed on it. This means that you will only be able to use it for 7 days from said date. Therefore, it will be better to get this card on the first day you plan on using it.
How to Get a Valencia Tourist Card
There are many ways of getting a Valencia Tourist Card. You can buy one directly from a Valencia Tourist Office with an attendant, get it at a digital kiosk (an automated machine), or online.
Tourist offices
There are five tourist offices all around Valencia.
In the city centre, there are two: one in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, 1 bajo, 46002 ( view map ), the other one in Calle de la Paz 48, 46003 ( view map ).
There is another one by the beach in Calle José Ballester Gozalvo s/n, 46011 ( view map ) – next to Hotel Las Arenas.
There is also one at the Joaquin Sorolla train station (behind the Nord Station), Calle San Vicente 171, 46007 ( view map ).
And finally, one at the airport at the Arrivals Hall ( view map ).

All offices are accessible for people with reduced mobility. They are equipped with accessible service counters, headsets for the hearing impaired, and assistance for people with reduced mobility and general disabilities. Opening times and closing days can differ from one office to the other, therefore we recommend checking each on the Visit Valencia website .
Digital Kiosks
There are also four digital kiosks (automated machines) that offer 24-hour service. Two of them are at the airport, respectively in front of the car rental stands and next to the tourist office. One is at the train station (also next to the tourist office), and the other one is in the city hall (by the tourist info office in Plaza del Ayuntamiento).

Online
This is the option we recommend the most, as it implies some discounts. If you decide to purchase your card online, you will still need to pick up your physical card, as this is not an electronic card. You can do so in one of four ways.
- You can pick up your card at any Valencia tourist office (mentioned above). Opening times and closing days can differ from one office to the other, therefore we recommend checking out each on the Visit Valencia website .
- You can also pick up your card at a digital kiosk (mentioned above). These automated machines are available and functioning 24 hours. In order to get your card, you will have to enter the order number and email address with which you made the purchase. Remember that these kiosks work only if you made your purchase through the official Visit Valencia website .
- Another option is to get your card delivered to your house directly. This means that you will have to purchase your ticket way ahead in order to allow for delivery time. For Spain, this will be between 3 and 5 working days. For countries in the EU, between 10 and 15 working days. For the rest of the world, a maximum of 20 days. The delivery cost must be paid by the buyer and is calculated automatically at check-out. This will range between €6 to €15. You can check the status of your order by emailing customer service at [email protected].
- Lastly, your final option is hotel delivery. At the time of purchase, you will indicate the date on which you want the card to be delivered to the hotel. The delivery will be carried out between 10:00 am and 11:00 am, and it will cost €3.40. To ensure this service, it is not allowed to select a delivery date with less than 24 hours’ notice.
After your card has expired, you can return it to a tourist office to be recycled. There is no cashback for this service, but you do get to do something good for the environment.
If, after your time limit has expired, you want to get another card instead, you can recharge it in person and get a 10% discount. This is the same amount you get online the first time you buy a VTC. To get this 10% off, you will have to go to a tourist office and recharge your card with exactly the same type of VTC offer.
How to Use the Valencia Tourist Card
After you have received your physical Valencia Tourist Card, your hours of use will not start until you have activated it. That is to say, until you use your VTC to get a discount, free entry, or transport, your card will not be considered active. Every time you use it, you will need to tap it on a reader of some kind.
On Public Transport
For example, to be able to use the VTC on public transport, you will only need to tap it as a normal transport ticket. For buses, this means that once you get on, you will have a reader (generally behind the driver and by the rear door) that you can tap your card on. Once the audio signal has beeped, your card has been read.

On the metro, before you access the platforms, you will have gates that automatically open once you have tapped your card. Remember that you need to tap on your way out too. This will not be valid for the 7-day VTC, of course. Keep in mind that urban transport in Valencia is always free for children of ages 0 to 5 by bus, and 0 to 9 by metro.
At Monuments and Other Sights
To get your free entry or discount at other tourist sites, you can get your tickets online in advance (see details below), at any moment at a tourist office, or directly at the individual venues. For the last two options, simply show your Valencia Tourist Card to the attendant, and they will apply any discount you are entitled to by tapping your card on their reader.

Tickets for Other Venues and Activities
When getting the Valencia Tourist Card online (from the official website ), you can also get tickets for other venues or activities in advance. Unlike the Valencia Tourist Card itself, which you will have as a physical card, you will be sent these as e-tickets. You can get one ticket of every kind for every VTC purchased. This means that you cannot get, for example, two museum tickets with one VTC.
Of course, you will enjoy VTC discounts if they apply to the venue or activity that you chose. However, to get your discount you need to buy the e-ticket at the same time as the VTC. That is to say, you will have to add your tickets to the same shopping cart and check out (pay) for everything together. If you get these tickets online after you have already purchased your VTC, you will not get the VTC discount.
If you do not intend to meticulously plan your trip in detail ahead of time, we would not recommend you get your tickets online this way. It is much easier, instead, to get your discount or free entrance in person at each venue or tourist office, presenting your Valencia Tourist Card.

For some organized activities or tours (cruises, for instance), you might need to book in advance. If you are really interested in some of them, we recommend you check your discount guide and find the operating entity. When you call them, they will tell you whether you need to book in advance or if you can just show up at any time. This way you’ll make sure you don’t miss out on anything.
At Restaurants
At a restaurant, you will need to show your card to the host or server, and they will apply whichever discount you are entitled to. Remember that some restaurants might have dedicated time slots in which you can get your discount. To be sure, you can check on the discount guide.
What’s Included and Where Can You Use It?
With any Valencia Tourist Card (up to 72 hours) you purchase, whether it is for a child or an adult, you get the following.
- Free public transport across metro and trams (zones A-B-C), urban EMT buses (Zone A). This includes buses 24 and 25 to Albufera and its natural park, surrounded by rice fields. - Discounts of up to 35% at other tourist sites, activities, shops, and restaurants. You can find the detailed and complete list down below.
