Valenbisi
The perfect public bike rental if you want to cycle around Valencia without spending too much or worrying about taking a bike with you everywhere you go.
Valenbisi in a nutshell...
Valencia’s public bike-sharing system offers 276 stations across the city for convenient short-distance travel.
Subscription options: 7-day pass (€13.30) for visitors or annual pass (€29.21) for residents, both manageable through an app or access codes.
How it works: Take a bike from any station, ride for 30 free minutes, then return to any station. Extra time costs €0.52-1.04 per half hour. Bikes include locks for brief stops.
The sturdy bikes are ideal for city exploration but less suitable for long journeys due to their weight. The 24/7 service is perfect for combining with other transport methods, eliminating the need to carry a bicycle everywhere.
Valenbisi is Valencia’s public bike rental service, and it lets its users take out bikes from any public bike terminal, cycle through the city, and then return them to any other available bike station.
This service is available any time of the day, any day of the year, and doesn’t require you to go to any info point to talk to an attendant. You can sign up on your own whenever you want and you will almost always find a bike at the first bike terminal you go to.
It is also much cheaper than any other private bike rental and it will allow you not to worry about taking a bike with you everywhere you go, as you normally return your bike every 30 minutes of use.
If, for example, you want to bike for a stretch of the Turia park, then take the tram to the beach and continue biking in the area, you won’t have to take the bike with you on the tram. You will simply secure the bike at a Valenbisi terminal near the tram station and get on the tram. Once arrived, you will get another bike at a public terminal by your destination.

Valenbisi is an excellent service, but you have to keep in mind that their bikes are best fitted for short rides, as they are heavier than most regular bikes and thus slower. This means Valenbisi is ideal if you plan on using the bike occasionally, for short periods of time, and along with other means of transport in the city.
If you are interested in cycling for longer periods and you plan on using a bike as your main method of transport in Valencia, we recommend renting a bike from one of the many shops available in the city.
In the following table, you’ll find a summary of the main differences between the two Valenbisi subscription plans: the weekly and the annual membership. For more detailed information about each subscription plan or how to use the bikes, you can continue reading this article.

*Móbilis is a public transport card that can be topped up with various types of passes or tickets, including the annual Valenbisi subscription. It can be purchased at a Metrovalencia vending machine, kiosk, or customer service office.
**With the annual subscription you can sign up for an optional €9.00 insurance which covers you in case of any damages to property or personal injury.
Our recommendation…
If you are staying in Valencia for more than 14 days, it’s easier, more convenient, and more cost-effective to just get the annual subscription.
How Valenbisi Works
Valenbisi has a total of 276 bike stations in Valencia. The bikes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service is overall of great quality and affordable, with a good spread of the bikes throughout the city.
This means that no matter which station you’re at, you are likely to find a bike available. In case you don’t, there are plenty of other bike stations in the immediate vicinity. To find the closest station to you, you can use the Valenbisi Map or the Valenbisi app.

To use this service, you pay a fixed cost, either per year or per week. The two options require the same documentation and personal info, so they are equally easy to get. You can read more about the long term and short term subscription options and their characteristics in the relevant sections of this article.
While there used to be a required deposit of €150.00 for short-term subscriptions, this has recently changed. Instead, at the moment of purchase, you’ll have to authorise the company to safely save your bank details in case of non-compliance with the contract. The maximum amount they are allowed to take from you, in that case, is still €150.00. You can find more details about this in the penalties section of this article.
Valenbisi App
The Valenbisi app is the main tool you’ll need when doing anything related to Valenbisi. Everything from general information to your personal account can be viewed and managed through the app.
Here’s a list of what you can do through it:
- View the Valenbisi map and bike availability.
- Activate your booking once you’re at the bike station.
- View personal info, including past trips and time if use.
- Subscribe to either long or short term passes.
If you prefer not using the app, you can still pair your account to a Móbilis card (in case it’s a long-term subscription) or get a subscription directly at a Valenbisi station (the short-term subscription).
Bike Pick-up
Picking up a bike when you have a Valenbisi account is really easy. Of course, you can unlock your bike and manage the pick-up through the app, but you can also do it manually at the Valenbisi station where you intend to take your bike.
If you’re not using your phone, remember that the displays and instructions at a terminal are in Spanish by default. If you want to change the language, you can do so on the top part of the home screen.
With the Valenbisi App
As mentioned above, you can manage your account through the app, including bike pick-up. This way, you won’t need to get or carry additional cards with you, and you can unlock a bike directly from your phone.
Here you have a step by step guide on taking out a Valenbisi bike with your mobile phone:
- Open the app when you’re already close to a Valenbisi station (the bikes cannot be booked in advance).
- On the map, select your Valenbisi station.
- Scroll down the list to find the bike you want. The bikes are numbered depending on their stand. Only available bikes can be selected.
- Swipe left on the bike you want to take out.
- You will now have 60-seconds to slide the bike out of its lock. After that, it will automatically lock the bike again.
- Adjust the bike seat if necessary
- Press the button on the stand to release the bike. Slide it off the lock, and you can go.
With a Móbilis Card
If you prefer not to use your phone and you have an annual pass, you can choose to pair a Móbilis card to your account ( this option is not available for weekly passes ). This way, you’ll be able to pick up a bike without taking out your phone, and you won’t have to worry about service.
- Approach a Valenbisi terminal and scan your card.
- Insert your 6-digit PIN (this is the code you chose when you created the account).
- You can now click on “take out a bike” (alquilar una bicicleta).
- An info page will remind you to properly lock your bike upon return. Click on the “next” button at the bottom right corner (siguiente).
- On the screen you’ll only see the numbers corresponding to the available bikes at your Valenbisi station. You can select whichever one you want by clicking on their number.
- When a “bike available” (bicicleta disponible) message appears on the screen, you can go get your bike.
- You now have 60 seconds to take out your bike. We suggest you adjust the seat before taking the bike out if needed.
- Press the button on the stand to release the bike. You can now slide i off the lock, and off you go.
When you take a bike out, the first 30 minutes of every ride are free of charge. This means that every time you take a Valenbisi, you won’t be paying anything for the first half-hour. After this time, there will be excess time fees that depend on your subscription.
With a Subscription Number
Yet another option is that of taking out a bike solely using your subscription number and your PIN code. No apps or cards are needed to do this, you only need to remember the subscription number.
You can use the subscription number with your weekly subscription at any Valenbisi station. As for the annual passes, only terminals that have updated systems can do it.
- Approach a Valenbisi terminal. Have your subscription number at hand (you will have been sent this upon signing up).
- In the home page, click on “use valenbisi service” (utilizar el servicio valenbisi, in Spanish).
- Insert your subscription number.
- Insert your 6-digit PIN code (the code you chose when you created the account).
- Next up, you’ll find the available bikes on the screen, numbered according to their stand. You can select whichever one you want by clicking on their number on the screen.
- You now have 60 seconds to take out your bike. Adjust the seat if needed.
- If the station is updated, there’s no need to push the release button on the stand before you slide the bike off the lock.
Returning the Bike
Returning your bike is even easier than taking it out. Here is a step-by-step guide:
- Approach a Valenbisi station and slide your bike into any one of the empty stands
- Make sure you insert your bike into the lock fully.
- You’ll hear a confirmation signal (a double beep) when the bike is correctly secured. If the signal is an insistent or steady beep, it means your bike is not correctly inserted.
- You can now leave the station without any additional steps. If you’re not sure the bike is inserted correctly, you can scan your card at the terminal or check the app, and it will tell you whether it’s secured or not.
If you’re a long-term user and the station you wanted to return your bike to is full, you can simply tap your Móbilis card on the terminal’s reader, and this will give you an extra 15 minutes to find another station near you.
If you’re a short-term user, you have to identify yourself as such at the station’s terminal. This way, you’ll get an extra 15 minutes, as well as information about the nearest available station.

Remember that as long as your rental is active, you are responsible for your bike. This means that if you don’t return and lock your bike properly you might get charged for extra hours in which you did not use the bike. Even if someone else takes it (while your rental is still active) and uses it, you will be paying for that time too.
Up to €150.00 can be charged to your card, especially if your bike gets damaged, stolen or otherwise not returned to any station within 24 hours from the initial rental. This is why you always need to be extremely careful to lock your bike properly upon return. You can find more details about this in the penalties section of this article.
Troubleshooting
If you don’t hear the signal, or if the signal continues to sound insistently, the bike is not secured correctly. This means that the timer is still going, and you might be charged overtime. If you are not sure, you can double-check either by logging in at the terminal with your card or by checking the rides history on your app.
If the stand is malfunctioning, you can get in contact with Valenbisi (+34 900 900 722) and let them know what is happening.

If you don’t lock your bike properly by mistake and you get charged for many hours in which you did not use the bike, you can get in contact with Valenbisi (+34 900 900 722). If it is your first time locking the bike incorrectly, they will probably waive the penalty fee, but be careful to avoid this.
How to Secure the Bike While Unattended
If you ever need to run a quick errand and park your bike for a few minutes, you need to make sure that the Valenbisi is secured, as you are considered responsible for it as long as your rental is active. Every Valenbisi comes with a basic lock and key that you can use for this purpose.
- Approach a bike parking spot.
- Take the chain from the basket, where it usually rests.
- The lock is already attached to the bike, so you only need to pass the chain around the bike parking spot.
- To secure it, insert the chain through the protruding metal insert piece and into the keyhole until it clicks.
- Remember to take the key out so that nobody else can unlock the bike.
- Don’t forget to put down the bike stand.
The best thing to do is to lock your Valenbisi to a bike parking spot or any urban furniture. However, remember that it’s illegal to park bikes to trees, lampposts, and building elements. Here is how you can lock your Valenbisi step by step.
If you can’t find anything to lock your bike onto, you can just pass the chain between the spokes of the wheel and secure the lock with your key. This way, the wheel will not turn and no one will be able to take your Valenbisi while you are away.
To unlock the Valenbisi, you just have to do the following:
- Slide the key back into the keyhole and turn it, releasing the lock.
- Put the chain back into the basket and you’re ready to go.
Costs Overview
In the following table, you can see a price comparison for the two main subscription options. More details about short and long term subscriptions are in the relevant section.
Subscription type |
---|
Subscription cost |
Extra initial cost (one time only) |
First 30 min. of use |
30 to 60 min. |
60 minutes onwards |
The excess time fees are calculated according to the time bands within which they fall. This means that, within the same time band, it doesn’t matter how many minutes you keep your bike over time.
*Since you will be using your Móbilis for up to a year (the duration of your subscription), we recommend you get a plastic Móbilis card rather than a cardboard one. In any case, you can associate your account to a different Móbilis at any time through the app or the website.
For example, if you were to use Valenbisi to go from the city centre to Malvarrosa beach, your total usage time would be about 45 minutes (15 minutes overtime). You would be charged the same if it took you 31 minutes (1 minute overtime) or 59 minutes (29 minutes overtime). In all these cases, if you had a 7-day subscription you would be charged €1.04, if you had an annual subscription you would be charged €0.52.

If instead, you were to cycle in the Turia park for a short 20 minutes, you wouldn’t have to pay extra with either of the two subscriptions.
Penalties
If your bike gets damaged, stolen, or otherwise lost while your booking is still active, you will be considered liable and might be required to pay up to €150.00.
During the sign-up process, at the moment of purchase, you will be asked to authorise the company to safely save your card details in case of non-compliance with the contract. This way, Valenbisi is allowed to take up to €150.00. This is why you always need to be extremely careful to lock your bike properly upon return. Below you’ll find a list of penalties that might apply.
Offence |

Penalty |
*Repeated behaviour will incur in automatic and indefinite expulsion from Valenbisi. The same penalty applies for damages done to the Valenbisi system itself.
Young Riders
The minimum age to get a Valenbisi subscription is 14 years of age. For weekly subscriptions, in the case of underage users, there is no required documentation. As for annual subscriptions, if you are under 18, you will need to provide an approval document from your legal tutor or parent to be able to sign up.
On the Valenbisi website or app, you’ll find a long term subscription option specifically for people aged 14-17. The cost of the subscription remains the same. At the end of the sign-up process for your subscription, your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) will receive a summary of the transaction, along with the approval document. In it, your legal guardian(s) will assume all liability for any damage or breach of contract caused by you.
The document has to be filled in, signed, and sent back with an attached copy of all the participants’ IDs (yours and your parents/legal guardians).
Short Term Subscription (7 days)
Valenbisi offers subscription plans of different duration. Once you have paid the fixed cost, you can use the service for the duration of the subscription. For those only visiting Valencia for a few days, the most useful option is the weekly subscription. The short term subscription allows you to take out Valenbisi however many times you want for seven consecutive days, and it costs only €13.30.
All you need to provide in order to get this subscription is your personal info (including your email) and a working debit or credit card. Accepted cards are Mastercard and Visa.

Signing Up for a 7-day Pass
There are three ways to sign up for a short-term Valenbisi pass. You can sign up through the app, the official website, or directly in person at a Valenbisi station with a card reader. If you sign up through the app or website, you can manage everything through your app, but if you sign up at a station, you will be given a ticket with your info to take out bikes.
Keep in mind that there used to be a required deposit of €150.00 for short-term subscriptions, but this has recently changed. Instead, at the moment of purchase, you’ll have to authorise the company to safely save your bank details in case of non-compliance with the contract. The maximum amount they are allowed to take from you, in that case, is still €150.00. You can find more details about this in the penalties section of this article.
With the Mobile App
This is, in our opinion, the easiest and most recommendable way to get a subscription, as you can do it anywhere you are and without having to worry about keeping any ticket with you.
- Open the Valenbisi app
- On the top left, above the menu, you’ll find a “Log in - Sign up" button. Click it.
- Click on “Create my account”. You’ll have to insert your email and choose a 6-digit PIN code.
- You’ll be sent an activation code in your email. Upon clicking it, you’ll be brought back to the app. Here, select “complete my account”. On the same page, you can also choose to check the subscription types.
- Next, choose the short term subscription.
- You’ll get a quick overview and the price (€13.30). Click on “choose this subscription option” at the bottom of the page.
- State your gender, name, surname, date of birth, and phone number (you can change the prefix for a non-Spanish phone number).
- Choose a start date and time for your subscription. It comes pre-filled with the date and time you are signing up, but you can change it.
- Accept Valenbisi’s terms and conditions (you don’t have to agree to the newsletters) to add a payment method.
- Fill in your card details (Mastercard or Visa). Agree to Valenbisi safely storing your card info in case you have to pay a fine for damages to the bike. You can find more details about these fines in the penalties section of this article.
- The sign-up process is now finished.
- In your email, you will have received an overview of the subscription and your info, including your subscription number. Keep it, as you’ll need the subscription number once you want to activate your pass.
On the Website
The other way to get a 7-day subscription is to do it online on the official Valenbisi subscription page .
- Go on valenbisi.es .
- On the home page, click on “sign up”.
- Insert your email and create a 6-digit PIN code. After every step click on “OK” on the right.
- An email will have been sent to you. Click on the activation link provided.
- At the top of the page, you’ll see a red notice, telling you that you are not subscribed to any plan. Click on “See plans”.
- Click on the short term option.
- You’ll get a quick review and the price (€13.30). Click on “Choose this plan” right under it.
- Insert your gender, name, surname, date of birth, and phone number (you can change the prefix if your number is not Spanish). Remember to click on OK on the right after you fill in the blanks.
- Click on “learn about our plans”.
- Confirm your subscription of choice. The start date and time of your subscription are set at the moment you are signing up as default. If you want, you can change them to a later date.
- Next up, click on “Mobile Phone or Ticket” as your device, then click on confirm.
- On the following page, you can add a payment method (Mastercard or Visa), and agree to Valenbisi storing your bank info in case you have to pay a fine for damages to the bike (up to €150.00). You can find more details about these fines in the penalties section of this article.
- Accept Valenbisi’s terms and conditions. You don’t have to agree to the other conditions (newsletters from Valenbisi and its partners).
- Your weekly subscription is now complete.
- You will have been sent another email with your info and subscription number. Keep it, as you will need it when you want to use the Valenbisi pass.
At a Valenbisi Station
Another way to get a short term subscription is to go to a Valenbisi station with a credit card reader ( not all stations have this feature ) and follow the instructions indicated on the screen. Instructions are available in Spanish, English and French. This way you’ll get a subscription on the spot.
To find a bike station near you, you can check the Valenbisi stations section. Below you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to get your pass this way.
- Approach a Valenbisi terminal with a card reader.
- On the home page, click on “get a subscription” (adquirir abono, in Spanish). You can change the language at the top of the home page.
- The only option available is the short-term pass. Click on it.
- You’ll see a quick review of the conditions. Click on the empty box at the bottom of the page to agree and proceed.
- Choose a 6-digit PIN code that you’ll use every time you want to take out a bike.
- Insert your card into the card reader and pay for the subscription.
- A ticket will be printed. If the machine cannot print the ticket, a message will appear on the screen, giving you your subscription number. Take note of it, as you will need it every time you want to take a bike out.
- You can directly continue to take a bike out as normal. You’ll find the available bikes on the screen, numbered according to the stand where they are parked. Select one you want by clicking on its corrsponding number.
- You now have 60 seconds to take out your bike. Adjust the bike seat if needed.
- You can slide the bike off the hook directly, no need to push the release button on the stand.
Using a Short-term Subscription
Once you have subscribed, there are different ways to use your 7-day pass. The easiest is the app, as you’ll continue to manage your account from there, but there’s also another option.
In the following sections, we’ll explain how to use your short-term subscription in each case.
With the app
If you have signed up through the app, it’ll be very easy to start using your subscription, as you won’t really need much else and are already familiar with the interface. Below you can find a step by step guide on everything you need to do to activate your short-term pass.
- Open the app when you’re already close to a Valenbisi station (the bikes cannot be booked in advance).
- On the map, select the Valenbisi station where you are located.
- Scroll down the list to find the bike you want to unlock. The bikes are numbered depending on the stand where they’re parked.
- Swipe left on the bike you want to take out. Only available bikes can be selected.
- You will have 60-seconds to slide the bike out of its lock. If you don’t take the bike out, it will appear as available to others again.
- Adjust the bike seat if necessary
- Press the button on the stand and release the bike.
With a Subscription Number
Your other option is to use your subscription through a subscription number. No matter whether you signed up on the website, the app, or in person at a station, you will have received one. Below you can find a step by step guide on everything you need to do to start using your short-term subscription.
- Approach a Valenbisi station with your subscription number ready (if you signed up online, you will have received this in your email when you first signed up).
- Click on the button acceder al servicio and insert your subscription number.
- Insert your 6-digit PIN (the one you chose yourself).
- Click on “take out a bike” (alquilar una bicicleta, in Spanish).
- A Valenbisi info page will remind you to properly lock your bike upon return. Click on the “next” button at the bottom right corner (siguiente, in Spanish).
- You’ll see the available bikes on screen. Select one by clicking on its corresponding number.
- When a “bike available” message appears on the screen (bicicleta disponible), you can go get your bike.
- You now have 60 seconds to take out your bike. We suggest you adjust the seat before taking the bike out if needed.
- Press the button on the stand to release the bike. You can now slide it off the lock, and off you go.
Returning the Bike
Returning your bike to a Valenbisi station is even easier than taking one out. Here you have a step by step guide:
- Approach a Valenbisi station and slide your bike into any one of the empty stands
- Make sure you insert your bike into the lock fully.
- You’ll hear a confirmation signal (a double beep) when the bike is correctly secured. If the signal is an insistent or steady beep, it means your bike is not correctly inserted.
- You can now leave the station without any additional steps. If you’re not sure the bike is inserted correctly, you can check your account on the app, and it will tell you whether the booking is still active or not.
Cost Overview
The subscription has a fixed cost, but if you do not return your bike on time (within 30 minutes since you took it out), you will incur extra charges.
The cost of the subscription, as well as the extra costs for keeping a Valenbisi bike over time, are illustrated in the following table.
7-day subscription |
---|
Cost |
Overtime Fees
The overtime costs are calculated according to the time bands within which your overtime falls. All these extra fees are registered and accumulated on your account. At the end of your subscription, the total will be detracted from your deposit.
If, for example, during the course of your subscription, you kept your bike for 35 minutes (5 minutes overtime) one day, and 50 minutes (20 minutes overtime) another day, €15.38 will be detracted from your deposit (€13.30 for the subscription itself, plus €1.04 for the first overtime, plus another €1.04 for the second overtime).
Long-term Subscription
The other subscription option offered by Valenbisi is the annual plan. Much like a weekly plan, the long-term subscription has a fixed cost and can be used for an unlimited number of journeys within the duration year.

This might be a better option for those that are staying in Valencia for longer periods of time, from a few weeks to several months.
Types of Long-term Subscriptions
There are various year-long subscriptions, but the one you are most likely to get is the standard long-term subscription (€29.21).
Other annual subscriptions include:
- +55 Card (€24.00) for users over 55 years of age
- Closer Card (€20.00) for unemployed people over 35
- Company Subscription (€26.00) for organisations and associations in Valencia
- Combined MIBISI (€26.00) for MIBISI users.
MIBISI is another bike rental service that covers areas and towns outside Valencia’s city centre. You’ll also find that the annual subscription for minors is listed as separate from the regular yearly subscription. Its price, however, is still €29.21.
How to Sign Up
To get an annual subscription, you can either use the app on your mobile phone or link your account to your Móbilis card.
A Móbilis card is a transport card on which you can load many public transport tickets, like SUMA passes and single metro tickets. If you don’t have one already, you can get one for €2.00 (hard plastic) or €1.00 (cardboard) at any metro station, kiosk or tobacco shop.
With the App
As with other subscription options, you can get and use a long-term subscription through the Valenbisi app. This is the option we recommend if you don’t want to get and keep a Móbilis with you.
- Open the Valenbisi app
- On the top left, you’ll find a “Log in - Sign up" button. Click it.
- Click on “Create my account”, you’ll have to insert your email and choose a 6-digit PIN code.
- You’ll be sent an activation code in your email. Click it.
- Select “complete my account”. On the same page, you can also choose to check the subscription types.
- Choose a long term subscription.
- You’ll get a quick overview and the price (€29.21). Click on “choose this subscription option” at the bottom of the page.
- State your gender, name, surname, date of birth, and phone number (you can change the prefix for a non-Spanish phone number).
- Choose a start date and time for your subscription. It will normally come pre-filled with the date and time you are signing up, but you can change it.
- Add a payment method (Mastercard or Visa). Accept Valenbisi’s terms and conditions (you don’t have to agree to the newsletters).
- Agree to Valenbisi safely storing your card info in case you have to pay a fine for damages to the bike (up to €150.00). You can find more details about these fines in the penalties section of this article.
- The sign-up process is now finished.
- In your email, you will have received an overview of the subscription and your info, including your subscription number. Keep it, as you’ll need the subscription number once you want to activate your pass.
Through the Website
The other way to get an annual subscription is to do it online on the official Valenbisi subscription page .
If you don’t like having to take your phone out every time you want to pick up a Valenbisi bike, you can link your pass to a Móbilis card at the time of subscription. This way, you don’t have to worry if your phone is not working correctly, has a low battery, or has poor service. Below you can find a step by step guide on how to get the pass online.
- Go on valenbisi.es .
- On the home page, click on “sign up”.
- Insert your email and create a 6-digit PIN code. After every step click on “OK” on the right.
- Click on the activation link sent to your email.
- At the top of the page, you’ll see a red notice, telling you that you are not subscribed to any plan. Click on “see plans”.
- Click on the long term plan option
- You’ll get a quick review and the price (€29.21).
- Click on “mobile phone or card” as your device, then click on confirm.
- Add a payment method (Mastercard or Visa), and agree to Valenbisi storing your bank info in case you have to pay a fine for damages to the bike (up to €150.00). You can find more details about these fines in the penalties section of this article.
- Accept Valenbisi’s terms and conditions. You don’t have to agree to the newsletters.
- Your annual subscription is now complete.
- You will have been sent another email with your info and subscription number. Keep it, as you will need it when you want to use the Valenbisi pass.
Keep in mind that there used to be the alternative to get a Valenbisi card shipped to your house, however, this is no longer an available option.
Using a Long-term Subscription
Once you submit all the info and complete the process, you can go start using your pass straight away. To find a bike station near you, check the Valenbisi stations section.
With the App
If you have signed up through the app, it’ll be very easy to start using your subscription, as you won’t really need much else and are already familiar with the interface. Below you can find a step by step guide on everything you need to do to activate your long-term pass.
- Open the app when you’re already close to a Valenbisi station (the bikes cannot be booked in advance).
- Select the Valenbisi station where you are located.
- Scroll down the list to find the bike you want to unlock. The available bikes are numbered depending on the stand where they’re parked.
- Swipe left on the bike you want to take out.
- You have 60 secons to slide the bike out of its lock. If you don’t take the bike out, it will appear as available to others again.
- Adjust the bike seat if necessary
- Press the button on the stand to release the bike. You can now slide it off the lock, and off you go.
With a Mobilis Card
As mentioned in the previous section, you can also choose to pair your pass to a Móbilis card. This way, you won’t have to use your phone every time you want to take a Valenbisi bike out.
Remember that the first time you use a Móbilis card, you’ll need to complete the association to your account at a Valenbisi terminal. Below you can find a step by step guide on everything you need to do to activate your long-term subscription.
- Approach a Valenbisi terminal with your Móbilis card and tap it on the reader.
- Insert your associated phone number and 6-digit PIN code (the one you chose when you signed up).
- When the verification process is complete you’ll see a message on the screen, saying “association successful”.
- By clicking on the “next” button, you can proceed to book your bike as usual.
With a Subscription Number
Yet another option is that of taking out a bike solely using your subscription number and your PIN code. No apps or cards are needed to do this, only your memory (to remember the subscription number).
- Approach a Valenbisi terminal, keeping your subscription number at hand (you will have been sent this upon signing up).
- Click on “Use valenbisi service” (utilizar el servicio valenbisi).
- Insert your subscription number.
- Insert your 6-digit PIN code (this is the code you chose when you created the account).
- You’ll find the available bikes on the screen, numbered according to the stand at which they are parked. You can select one by clicking on its number.
- You now have 60 seconds to take out your bike. Go to the bike you chose and adjust the seat if needed.
- Slide the bike directly off the lock, there’s no need to push the release button on the stand.
Returning the Bike
Returning your bike to a Valenbisi station is easier than taking one out.
Annual subscription |

Liability Insurance
Keep in mind that when you sign in for an annual card, you can also sign up for a seguro de responsabilidad civil (civil liability insurance), which covers you in case of any damages to property or personal injury caused to third parties.
The cost of this optional insurance is €9.00 per year. If you plan on spending at least a few months in Valencia and cycling on the road with other vehicles, you might want to get this insurance, as it is not very expensive and it could help in case of any accidents. However, if you are planning to stay for a short period of time and you are a very careful cyclist, then insurance is probably not needed.
Overtime Fees
Overtime charges are calculated according to the time bands within which your overtime falls. This means that if, for example, one day you kept your bike for 35 minutes (5 minutes overtime) or 50 minutes (20 minutes overtime), you will still be charged the same amount, €0.52.
All these extra fees are registered and accumulated on your account, and at the end of every month, your card will be automatically charged.
If the payment on your card does not go through, your account will be suspended until you manually pay for them.
Valenbisi Stations
As long as you have a Valenbisi subscription, you can pick up and return a bike any time of the day, any day of the year. The good spread of the bikes throughout the city ensures that no matter which station you’re at, you are likely to find a bike available. In case you don’t, there are plenty of other bike stations in the immediate vicinity.

Keep in mind that not all stations are exactly the same. Some have more bike stands and some fewer, to ensure that busier areas always have bike availability.
Remember that the terminals can look different too, as some have card readers (which will allow you to pay for a 7-day subscription) and touch screens, while others don’t. The menu and instructions are generally offered in Spanish, English, and French.
Location of the Stations
As mentioned before, there are a total of 276 Valenbisi stations in Valencia. They are placed all over the city, covering all areas of the city centre, its surroundings, and the maritime neighbourhoods.
To find a bike station near you, you can check on the Valenbisi Map or on the Valenbisi app. On these, you’ll be able to see live information about the availability of bikes at any given station.

As mentioned in other sections of this article, once you take out your bike, you can cycle without any extra charges for the first 30 minutes. We strongly recommend you return your bike to any Valenbisi station available within this first half hour.
If the station you wanted to return your bike to is full, you can simply tap your Móbilis card or enter your code (if you have a 7-day pass) on the terminal’s reader, and this will give you an extra 15 minutes to find another station in the vicinity. This cannot be done with the app. If you want to continue cycling after you return the bike, you can immediately take out another one and continue for another 30 minutes.
If you don’t return the bike to a station on time, penalty fees will be charged directly to your card. Within the first 24 hours, the fees are calculated according to the type of subscription and overtime. After the first 24 hours, there are additional penalty fees.
Valenbisi App and Other Tools
There are a few tools that can be useful to manage your Valenbisi account and subscription. You can use them to find the closest station to you, to check and clear any outstanding charges on your account, or even just to check your journeys. Here we have gathered all of them.
Valenbisi App
The Valenbisi app is the primary tool to use the service. On it, you can subscribe to any Valenbisi plan, unlock and rent a bike, check station location and availability through a map, as well as check your account information and status, including the journeys made with your pass and their duration.

Online Map
The online station map is ideal if you want to check the stations from a computer or laptop. Remember that, aside from seeing the location of each Valenbisi terminal, you can also see how many bikes and free stands are available at each station by clicking on them.

This page works fine if you are using it on desktop, but we strongly recommend downloading the app for use on a mobile.
Here you can have a look at the online Valenbisi Station Map .
Valenbisi Webpage
This is the webpage from which you can subscribe to both Valenbisi pass options (7-day and annual).
In the section “my use” of your account, you can see all journeys you made, as well as their duration.

If you have an annual subscription, you can also process outstanding charges if they weren’t able to go through your card as normal. Additionally, you can upload credit on your name for any overtime fees that you expect to make in the future (up to a maximum of €10.00). For this, you will have to go to the “My subscription” and then “My credit” sections.
Valenbisi Stations Offline Map
If you don’t want to use as much of your data while you’re out, it can also be very useful to have a map already downloaded on your phone.
Remember that this is not an interactive map, only a simple PDF Valenbisi stations map. Nevertheless, with the spread of bikes around the city, you should be able to find a free stand or bike available at any station.

Bike Lanes and Traffic Rules
Every country has their own traffic norms, which must be respected and followed for your own safety and that of others. Here we have gathered all relevant traffic rules so that you can feel safe and avoid any fees when cycling in Valencia city.
General Norms for Cycling in Valencia
- You cannot wear earphones or headphones while on a bike. If you do this and get caught, you could get fined up to €200.00, the same you would get for using a phone while driving.
- You must be visible at all times, so the automatic lights on your Valenbisi bike must be on at night.
- Children cannot be carried on a Valenbisi, as generally they must travel on a child bike seat and this is not possible on a Valenbisi bike.
- You can carry pets with you on a Valenbisi.
When You’re on a Bike Lane
- Bike paths in Valencia can either be a separate lane on the “normal” street, usually recognisable for their red colour, or a painted bike lane on the sidewalk.
- The maximum speed allowed on a bike lane is 15 km/h (9 mph) if the lane is on the sidewalk or 20 km/h (12 mph) if it is a dedicated lane on the road.
- Respect traffic signals, always let pedestrians pass unless the traffic lights or signals indicate otherwise.
- Let others in the street know your movements by signalling in advance with your arms.

When You’re on the Road
- If the bicycle path stops you are supposed to cycle on the road. Be careful while doing this because driving on a normal road can be dangerous. If you are too scared to cycle on the road with other vehicles, you can always get off your bike and carry it next to you over the footpath.
- When driving on a normal road, make sure you are keeping a safe distance between yourself and nearby vehicles of at least 1.5 metres (5 feet) to the side and 3 metres (10 feet) behind and in front.
- Cycling on a bus lane is never allowed. There are, however, bus + bike + taxi lanes, marked as such on the road floor. These lanes have a section painted in red that acts as a bike lane. This section is exclusively dedicated to bikes and personal transporters (like electric scooters, segways, and electric unicycles). You can also bike in the rest of the bus + bike + taxi lane (outside the red area), but extra caution is recommended.
- When you are cycling on the road, you are only allowed to circulate in the same direction as the rest of the vehicles.
- If you are not going in the right direction on a one-way road, step off your bike and walk for a bit on the footpath.
When You’re in Pedestrian Areas
- You can only cycle in pedestrian areas if the width of the street is more than 3 metres (10 feet).
- Ensure that you are leaving at least 1.5 metres (5 feet) space for pedestrians to circulate while keeping a distance of at least 1 metre (3 feet) from them.
- Keep your speed under 10 km/h (6 mph).
Tips
On top of the regular traffic norms, we have put together a list of useful tips for those interested in cycling with Valenbisi in Valencia. They are not rules per se, but they will make your experience easier and smoother.
Good Practices and General Use
- Always remember to take care of the bike and return it correctly. You are considered responsible for it from the moment you take it until the moment you return it.
- Before starting your journey, it’s always good to use the app to check if there are any free stands in the area where you plan on going. This is especially true if you are going to very busy areas or if you are moving late at night or early in the morning when most bikes are parked.
- Using Valenbisi during holidays and festivals can be tricky, as most people will be going to the same places. This means that around celebration areas you will have many bikes parked and no free stands, while in other areas you will have few bikes available.
- Your Valenbisi subscription is registered to your account and with your name, so you are not supposed to share it with anyone else. If you are caught lending your subscription to someone else, you could get a fine and your account could be suspended. However, no one is really likely to stop you and ask for your ID to check if it matches that of your Valenbisi membership.
- You are also not supposed to carry anyone else with you on the bike. This would be difficult anyway, seeing the weight of the bike itself.
- Valenbisi bikes have a lock available to secure your bike while unattended. This lets you run quick errands without having to park your bike at a station and having to take one out again a few minutes later.
- The bikes also have a basket in the front to carry a few things if need be.
- If you are using a Mobilis card and the station you wanted to return your bike to is full, you can simply tap your card on the terminal’s reader, and this will give you an extra 15 minutes to find another station near you. This is not possible if you’re using the app.
- If you have a 7-day subscription and you’re not using the app, always keep your subscription number at hand. It could be a good idea to take a picture of it.
- If you have an annual subscription, remember that your Móbilis card number is not the same as your account number. Write down your account number and keep it with you in case you need it to access the Valenbisi webpage.
- Keep in mind that while no deposit is asked of you, from the moment you are signing up with Valenbisi, you are also giving them permission to take up to €150.00 from your account (in case of damages or fines). You can find more details about this in the penalties section of this article.

Issues with the Account or the Bikes
- We strongly recommend you return your bike to any Valenbisi station available within this first half hour. If you don’t return the bike to a station on time, penalty fees will be charged directly to your card.
- When there’s something wrong with a Valenbisi, It’s common practice in Valencia to leave the bike seat on backwards. If the bike you took had some issues, you should notify Valenbisi, and leave the bike seat on backwards for other users to see. Vice versa, if you see a bike parked with the seat on backwards, consider getting a different one.
- If any damage were done to the bike or if it were stolen while your rental is active, you could face penalties up to €150.00 (which Valenbisi can take from your account directly).
- For any unforeseen issues, you can always contact Valenbisi (+34 900 900 722) or go to their offices at Galeria Comercial Sapris, Calle Asturias, 34
